What better way to watch Cinderella prepare for the ball for the 100th time than on this princess-sanctioned DVD player? Designed with a durable hard plastic exterior in a feminine pink, this device will receive top marks from the princess in residence. Big buttons on the front of the player are well-placed and easy for smaller kids to use. Kids can also control the show with the handheld remote control, appropriately sized for a child’s hand although containing more and smaller buttons that may be suitable for older princesses. The remote features a rewind button to view the scene where Sleeping Beauty is awakened by the prince’s kiss over and over again; a fast-forward button to skim over the scary scene where the witch offers Snow White the poison apple; and a pause button for potty breaks. A second fully functional adult remote can be used to operate the main TV set and has the same DVD controls plus a few important extras: a parental lock function keeps kids from seeing movies or programs with ratings other than those parents select and an A-B repeat button lets parents specify where a section should begin so scary or more mature scenes of a movie can be blocked out. Both remotes operate from up to 20 feet away but need to be aimed at power button on front of DVD player to work properly. This unit also plays picture CDs, audio CDs, MP3 files, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs and has an S-Video output to attach a TV set. This compact CD player is scaled down to fit within a child’s room and to stack below the coordinating Disney Princess TV set (sold separately).
